About the Gurus
Sri.U.Ve.Venugopalanji

Sri.O.Venkataramanaji

Guruji Venugopalan is hailing from the family of erudite scholars. His grandfather Melma Sri.U.Ve. Varadadesikachariar was one of the Sanskrit scholars of his period.
His grandfather’s kalakshepa Acharyan was the great SriMushnam Sri.U.Ve. Swarnam Swami,who was a famous vedantic Srivaishnavite scholar of his period. (Sri.U.Ve.Swarnam swami was also one of the poorvasrama Kalakshepa Acharyan of HH 42 Pontiff Azhagiyasingar of Ahobila Mutt {fondly revered as “Injimettu Azhagiyasingar”}).

His father Melma Sri.U.Ve.Lakshmi Narasimhachariar was a great Sanskrit scholar and Siromani in Nyaya Sastra under the tutelage of great acharyas like Sri.U.Ve. Villivalam Narayanachariar swami, Melpakkam Narasimhachariar Swami, Goshtipuram Swami at Ahobila Mutt, Madurantakam Patashala. His father has also served as a Sanskrit teacher in the same patashala and other patashalas at Kumbakonam and Srirangam of Ahobila Mutt. His father’s Kalakshepa Acharyans were His Holiness 42 ,43 and 44 Peetam Azhagiyasingars of Ahobila Mutt, Puththangottagam Swami and Thillaisthanam swami in subjects like Ahnikam, Rahasyathrayasaram, Gita Bashyam, Bhagavad Vishayam and SriBashyam. He was a regular participant of vidvat sadhas held at Ahobila Mutt, Srimad Andavan Asramam, Kanchi Sankara Mutt, Mannargudi vidvat sabha etc. His father has also served as a Sanskrit and Hindi teacher in a private school at Tiruvannamalai and had authored books on the titles Thiruppavai and Godha Stuthi, Saranagathi and Dharma sastras. Besides, he has performed upanyasams (religious discourses) on Srimad Ramayanam, Srimad Bhagavatham and other subjects in several places within Tamilnadu, Mumbai, and notably Thiruppavai upanyasams every year on all days of Margazhi month, continuously for 36 years.
Venugopalanji had a brilliant academic career (B.Sc, ACA, ACMA, CAIIB, CISA, CRISC, CIA, CFE, CMA ) and held various managerial positions in banks within India and abroad. He had studied the sacred works under his father.

He had the blessings of veda adhyayanam under two gurus. He performed Thiruppavai upanyasams in Kuwait and in Chennai. He has written a few articles on religious subjects, which are published in religious magazines.

Born in 1955 and holds a degree of B.Sc (Mathematics).

At the age of 20 years was inspired into religion by reading the complete works of Swami Vivekananda.

Attended the lecture of Swami Chinmayananda on Bhagavad Gita-3rd chapter and was deeply impressed by reading the Mandukya Upanishad by Swamiji.

His turning point came during a visit to Vivekananda Rock Memorial Hall, Kanniyakumari where he had the experience of self absorption and thus his journey towards Vedanta world took off.

Though he desired to get fully involved in Chinmaya Mission, he did not succeed and hence later joined Railway service.

His tutelage in the Vedic world was under the guidance of the following Gurus :-

Learnt Taitreeya Upanishad, Sankara Bashyam and Vanamala in the traditional way from Vazhutoor Sri. Rajagopala Sarma for about 3 years

Attended several classes by Varagur Sri. Kalyana Sundara Sastrigal & Upanishads classes conducted by Dr R. Krishnamoorthy Sastrigal.

Being inspired by Brahmasri Mallikarjuna Sarma (a Siromani in Mimamsa Sastra and a Somayaji) and under his influence, started doing Nithya Karma like Oupasanagni, Vaiswa Devam etc. in traditional way.

During 1980 he had stayed at Haridwar for 40 days and attended the Panchadasi of Vidyaranyapura by Swami Taranandagiri (Guru of Swami Dayanandha Saraswathi)

He thus embarked on his Vedic journey through self
inspiration , guidance from various Gurus/Scholars and by studying the spiritual works of various scholars.
7.Teaching – He advocates the concept of continuous learning
and teaching

Started teaching the Bhagavad Gita & Upanishad to others right from his early days when he was in Railway service.

From 1988 to 1992 had taken classes on Upanishad for a small group of people at Rama Naicker Street.

For the last 1-1/2 years taking Bhagavad Gita & Upanishad classes for Veda Siras members during weekends.
8. He is a devotee of Sriman Narayana and a regular visitor to
Triplicane Sri Parthasarathy Temple. He also worships Sri
Raghavendra Swami of Mantralayam and regularly does
Sree Lalitha Sahasranama Archana on Fridays for the last
few years.
9. He has two daughters and they are married well settled. His
wife is also fully devoted and extends excellent support in his
spiritual journey.
